Take Action - Parents

As a parent, your job is to grow your child to their best possible person. Giving into pressures to give your child a cell phone when they are too young for it may be tempting but it is essential to wait until they are ready and for their brain to develop. In the book "Anxious Genoration" by Jonathan Haidt, he proposes a solution called "Wait till Eight" which involves a group of parents that decided to wait until eight grade to give a phone to their child.

Another thing you can be doing is talking to your child about the risks of online activity and how to protect themselves. Ask the questions like, "How do you feel after using social media?" Make sure to be clear with boundries and limitations on devices such as time limits and restricted apps.
